Residents of Tengah and Brickland can look forward to significantly improved public transport options, as Acting Transport Minister Jeffrey Siow announced plans for eight new bus services in these neighborhoods over the next year and a half.

The exciting development was revealed during a media briefing on Sunday (June 8), with two routes set to launch before the end of 2024. Dr Choo Pei Ling, MP for Chua Chu Kang GRC, shared that bus service 872 will commence operations from Tengah Bus Interchange starting August 10 - just in time for National Day celebrations.

"This new route will provide direct connectivity from Tengah to Chinese Garden MRT station while serving key areas including Bukit Batok, Plantation Crescent and Jurong East," Dr Choo explained enthusiastically. "We hope residents will appreciate this National Day gift."

Comprehensive Transport Upgrade Plan

The second upcoming route will originate from Brickland and connect commuters to two MRT stations. While details remain under wraps until later this year, Minister Siow emphasized that these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance mobility across newer housing estates.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will introduce two express bus services starting from Brickland - one heading towards the city center and another servicing one-north business district. "These express routes are specifically designed to help residents reach employment centers faster and more efficiently," Siow noted.

Future-Ready Transportation Network

The transport improvements extend beyond conventional buses.
