Pump prices in Singapore have continued to climb, with 95-octane petrol hitting new record highs last Friday, surpassing previous peaks seen in 2022. The increases mark the fifth consecutive day of rising fuel costs across the island.
All five major fuel providers — Shell, Caltex, Esso, Sinopec, and SPC — raised their posted prices for petrol and diesel, with adjustments occurring throughout the day. Caltex led the surge, raising prices for its 92- and 95-octane, as well as premium petrol, by 10 cents. Diesel saw an 11-cent increase.
According to the Consumer Association of Singapore (CASE) Price Kaki tracker, Caltex’s 95-octane petrol reached $3.45 per litre, slightly surpassing the previous high of $3.42 per litre recorded in June 2022. That earlier record was set during a period of global market tension following the European Union’s ban on Russian oil imports.
Esso also adjusted its prices, increasing 92-octane petrol by 4 cents, while 95- and 98-octane petrol went up by 5 cents. Diesel prices at Esso were raised by 21 cents, reaching $3.49 per litre. Sinopec mirrored these increases for petrol grades 95 and 98, also raising diesel by 21 cents. SPC followed later in the evening, raising petrol prices by 9 cents for all grades and diesel by 21 cents.
Shell’s price adjustments came earlier in the day, with 95- and 98-octane, as well as premium V-Power petrol, going up by 5 cents, while diesel increased by 11 cents.
The new pricing across companies positions SPC as offering the most competitive rates for 92-, 95-, and 98-octane petrol and diesel. 95-octane petrol is now priced between $3.39 at SPC and $3.45 at Caltex, while Shell posts the highest price for 98-octane at $3.92 per litre.
The recent surge underscores ongoing pressure on fuel costs in Singapore, affecting drivers and transportation budgets. Consumers now face the highest petrol prices in nearly four years, reflecting a combination of global market trends and local adjustments across fuel providers.
