For most newlyweds, marriage signals the beginning of family planning and domestic bliss. But for Eleanore Lim and Timothy York James, their journey took an unexpected turn just two months after saying "I do" - a test that would redefine the meaning of unconditional love.

The year 2021 brought devastating news: Eleanore was diagnosed with dual cancers - stage one endometrial cancer alongside stage two ovarian cancer. The required full hysterectomy shattered their immediate hopes for biological children.

"We'd planned to start trying right after our wedding," the 36-year-old social worker shared with AsiaOne, her voice trembling at the memory. "When that diagnosis came... I completely broke down. We both adore children - it felt like our future vanished in an instant."

Medical professionals presented a heartbreaking choice: they could attempt egg retrieval through estrogen therapy before chemotherapy, but this significantly increased the risk of accelerating her cancer to terminal stage four.

"I offered to take that risk," Eleanore revealed. "But Timothy wouldn't hear of it." Her husband, a 43-year-old operations staff member at a halfway house, immediately prioritized his wife's survival over potential parenthood.
