Kyra Sedgwick Breaks Down Filming Emotional Break-Up Scene with Husband Kevin Bacon

Hollywood power couple Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon faced an unexpected emotional challenge while filming their new romantic comedy The Best You Can - performing a heartbreaking break-up scene together.

The 59-year-old actress opened up about the intense moment during the Tribeca Festival in New York, revealing how playing out a relationship collapse with her real-life husband of 36 years brought up surprising feelings. "There was a moment in the break-up scene where I could not — I was very emotional," Sedgwick confessed. "I knew [my character] would be emotional, but I had a little crossover of like, 'Oh my god, what if this had happened [in real life]?'"

The normally private couple have been married since 1988 and frequently rank among Hollywood's most enduring marriages. Sedgwick described the surreal experience of imagining life without her longtime partner: "Instead of what happened, which is that we're still together, but 'What if this had happened?' And I got very emotional about it."

Bacon, 66, shared his perspective on working with his wife in an interview with People magazine. The Footloose star called the experience uniquely rewarding: "As soon as you get into a scene, you have a responsibility to your partner to make that scene work, and we've had a partnership for 37 years. To be able to take some of that time that we've had together and put it up on the screen is just really fun."

The veteran actors have successfully balanced their high-profile careers with raising two children - son Travis (35) and daughter Sosie (33). Bacon recently revealed how they intentionally shielded their kids from Hollywood's spotlight during childhood.

"We really avoided it," Bacon explained on Mythical Kitchen's Last Meals podcast when discussing parenting in show business. "I think we really felt like it would be nice for them to have some... we knew how weird this life was."

The Golden Globe winner reflected on fame's peculiar realities: "When you realize that there's always a chance somebody will recognize you or form opinions based on your work... It's great — this is what I always wanted — but it's a weird way to live. Ninety-nine percent good, but a little weird."

Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to travel regularly in their 20s. While I don’t consider myself the jealous type, I couldn’t help but feel a tad envious when I had classmates or friends planning solo grad trips to Japan, Australia or Europe back in the day.
