When two Asian entertainment icons collide, the result is nothing short of electrifying - and sometimes dangerous.
The streets of Kyoto recently witnessed an unprecedented spectacle as Mandopop king Jay Chou, 46, met Japanese superstar Tomohisa Yamashita, 40, sending fans into a frenzy that unfortunately left one crew member injured.
Chaotic scenes unfolded outside a Kyoto restaurant when the two megastars attempted to leave together. Fan videos circulating on Douyin show massive crowds swarming around the celebrities as they tried to enter their vehicle. In the midst of this excitement, Jay's longtime makeup artist and friend Du Guozhang suffered serious injuries.
The Taiwanese singer later shared updates via Instagram Story with his signature mix of concern and humor: "Brother Du broke his leg in two places - everyone please keep your distance when greeting us! Though he's still cracking jokes despite everything."
A subsequent post showed Du in a wheelchair with his left leg heavily bandaged. Never one to miss comedic timing even in difficult situations, Jay quipped: "I feel terrible for Brother Du...but I still want to see if anyone caught his fall on camera."
The musical icon has been documenting his Japan trip extensively on social media. After initially posting about meeting Tomohisa on June 3rd with simple captions about their sightseeing adventures across Kyoto's historic streets, he later edited the post to add an important safety reminder: "If you spot us out and about, please say hello from a safe distance. Yesterday got way too intense."
This isn't just another celebrity meet-up story though - it represents an exciting cultural crossover between East Asian entertainment powerhouses. Interestingly enough before teaming up with Jay for this memorable outing which included visits to famous temples among other locations throughout Japan's ancient capital city; Tomohisa had also recently spent time hanging out with Chinese actor-singer Luhan who enthusiastically shared online about successfully getting starstruck by meeting him!
