Even celebrities enjoy playing tourists sometimes, and Taiwanese actress Ruby Lin proved just that during her recent visit to Singapore.
The 49-year-old star, famous across Asia, showed her playful side by fully embracing the classic tourist experience – complete with the iconic Merlion pose. And who better to guide her than fellow celebrity and close friend Vivian Hsu?
In an Instagram post on June 7, Ruby shared a series of lighthearted photos from her Singapore adventure. "Under the strong recommendation of my tour guide, companion cum photographer and dear sister, I've taken this photo which she said I'll thank her for in 10 years' time," Ruby wrote about one particular shot where she mimicked the famous Merlion statue's pose - head tilted back as if catching water.
The actress joked about taking "this series of touristy photos," adding laughing emojis to show she didn't take herself too seriously. Her hashtags revealed more about their fun dynamic: "#As long as you're not embarrassed, others will be the ones who are embarrassed" and another praising Vivian's dedication as photographer for their whole group.
Vivian Hsu, who has strong ties to Singapore after her previous marriage to a Singaporean businessman (they divorced in 2023), clearly enjoyed showing Ruby around. The 50-year-old star reposted one of the photos on her Instagram Story with pride: "It's a photo worth remembering," calling herself "the best photographer."
The celebrity duo also visited other popular spots including Marina Bay Sands' ArtScience Museum where they posed for masked photos outside its distinctive architecture. Evidence suggests this wasn't actually a very recent trip though - another post from Ruby showed them at teamLab Future World exhibit inside the museum over Dragon Boat Festival period.
